Farewell to the King was a big surprise of 1989. For me, this movie deserves all the best. I still remember the first time I saw Farewell to the King. Farewell to the King has a reputation of one of the best movies of it's times. The direction is really abstract. Majestic pictures, great tempo and scenes. The sum of small details is incredible. When a director makes movie and all of their scenes so influential that you don't want to pick your favorites, you know it is just a good, quality film. Plot of Farewell to the King

An American soldier who escaped execution of his companions by Japanese soldiers in Borneo during World War II became the leader of a personal empire among the headhunters in this war story in the style of Joseph Conrad and Rudyard Kipling. The American reluctantly returns to fight the Japanese under pressure from the British command team, but wages a war of revenge when the Japanese attack his adopted people.
